A simple daily checklist for a more welcoming office.

Small, steady habits can help shared workplaces feel tidier, more considered and ready for the day ahead.

A welcoming workplace is built through lots of small moments. A clear entrance, a tidy shared table and a bin that has been emptied all help people feel that the space is looked after.

A checklist can make those everyday tasks easier to organise. Adjust it to match the people, hours and needs of your own facility, and follow the cleaning-product and hygiene guidance that applies to your space.

Start where people arrive

The entrance is often a visitor’s first view of your workplace. Include a quick check of the entryway in your daily routine:

  • Clear visible clutter from the reception or entrance.
  • Check floors and mats for debris or wet spots that need attention.
  • Wipe commonly touched door handles and reception counters using appropriate products.
  • Make sure the visitor area and signs are easy to see and navigate.

Give shared spaces an easy reset

Meeting rooms, kitchens and collaboration areas can get busy through the day. A brief reset between uses can help each person find the space ready:

  • Return shared chairs and equipment to their usual places.
  • Wipe down worktops and meeting tables after use.
  • Check shared bins and arrange disposal according to your workplace’s requirements.
  • Let the right person know if supplies or maintenance need attention.

Remember the small finishing touches

Check that the supplies people rely on are in place, straighten shared areas and note anything that needs follow-up. Some tasks may happen daily; others may fit better into a weekly schedule. Building-specific requirements, surface materials and local hygiene guidance should always inform your plan.

A routine works best when it suits the space. Notice what visitors and staff use most, ask for feedback where useful, and make the checklist more detailed when something repeatedly gets missed.
